2023 Season Success

Take a look back at some of the successes by Scottish athletes at events outside Scotland during the 2023 season!

British Combined National Waterski Championships

It was a successful trip South for the 8 Scottish participants in the British National Waterski Championships, which took place between Thursday, 24 and Sunday, 27 August, at the Oxford Wakeboard & Ski Club.

35+ Men’s Slalom:

  • Oliver Jessop – 1st
  • Chris Heron – 2nd

55+ Men’s Slalom:

Europe & Africa 35+ Championships

Following their British National Waterski Championships performances, three Scottish skiers were selected to head to Cazaux, France with the GB Squad.

Great Britain Squad Members:

  • Oliver Jessop – 35+ Men’s Slalom
  • Chris Heron – 35+ Men’s Slalom (Team Vice Captain)
  • Kevin Lochhead – 55+ Men’s Slalom

WWA Nautique Wakesurf Series

Scottish Wake Surfers were well represented on the WWA’s Nautique Wakesurf Series this year, particularly at the London stop of the series. Raymond Colquhoun also travelled to some of the other stops and eventually came away with two series wins.

UK Cable Wakeboard Nationals

A small team of just five Scottish cable riders made their way to Whitemills Wake Park for the UK Cable Wakeboard Nationals where they came home with some medals and lots of learning.

30+ Men:

U11 Boys:

  • Kai Kinney Smith - 2nd

U11 Girls 

  • Mai Kenney Smith - 3rd

Pro Tour Events

Eve Smith-Lang continues to shine on the cable wakeboard scene, appearing at several professional events this year, including the famous Red Bull Wake Duel and O Fest.

Three of Scotland’s top Slalom Waterskiers headed to Italy in July for the prestigious San Gervasio Pro Am event, part of the Waterski Pro Tour.
